TEXT

Text tools

Tools that act on text the moment you paste it: count characters with and without spaces for an application form, find the lines that changed between two versions of a document, strip duplicate lines from a list, switch English between upper, lower, Title and camelCase, see what a Markdown file will look like. The text stays in your browser.

Two tools are built for Korean specifically. The romanizer converts names and addresses under the official Revised Romanization rules (based on standard pronunciation), the emoticon dictionary explains expressions like ㅇㅅㅇ and ㅋㅋ, and the chosung quiz turns a list of answers into initial consonants to share as a link, the keyboard converter puts text typed in the wrong input mode back the way it was meant, and the keyboard test shows whether a key registers at all. The special-characters page collects the middle dots, corner brackets and circled numbers a keyboard has no key for, one click to copy.

Word & Character CounterPaste or type text and get live character, word, line, paragraph and byte counts — nothing is uploaded.

ExampleEssay length check — Personal statements often have limits like “4,000 characters”. Paste your draft and watch the characters-with-spaces count while you edit.

Korean RomanizerTurn Hangul into the Latin alphabet with the official Revised Romanization — sound changes and all, plus passport-style name spellings.

ExampleWhy letter-by-letter swapping fails — Transcribed jamo by jamo, 신라 would be “sinra”, 종로 “jongro” and 왕십리 “wangsipri”. The standard romanizes pronunciation rather than spelling, so the correct forms are Silla, Jongno and Wangsimni. Each comes from a different sound change, which is why a lookup table cannot produce them.

Korean Text EmoticonsWhat Korean chat faces and consonant shorthand actually mean — ㅇㅅㅇ, ㅋㅋ, ㅇㅈ and more.

ExampleDecoding a Korean chat — “ㅋㅋㅋ ㅇㅈ ㄹㅇ” means roughly “haha, agreed, for real.” The ㅋ’s are laughter, ㅇㅈ is 인정 (I agree), and ㄹㅇ is 레알 (for real).
