Video Trimmer

Set a start and end and save just that part. The video never leaves your device.

It plays the clip in real time and re-records it, so it takes as long as the clip, quality can be slightly lower than the original, and your browser decides the file format (MP4 or WebM).

The video and the trimmed clip stay on this device.

How to use

  1. Choose a video file or drop it here.
  2. Move the preview to where you want and press Set start here and Set end here, or type the times.
  3. Check it with Preview clip and choose the size and whether to keep the sound.
  4. Press Trim, wait as long as the clip, then Save.

Examples

1:15.0–1:25.0 at original size

From a 1920×1080 video 2:30 long, trim 1:15.0–1:25.0 (10 s) at original size → takes about 10 s → a 1920 × 1080 file, estimated about 7.9 MB (clip-cut.mp4 if this browser supports MP4, otherwise clip-cut.webm).

FAQ

Is my video uploaded?

No. The video is read and re-recorded only inside this browser; it's never sent to a server or stored.

Why does it take as long as the clip?

It uses the browser's built-in recorder, which re-records the clip while it plays at normal speed. A 10-second clip takes about 10 seconds, and the tab needs to stay in view meanwhile.

Will the quality drop?

Because it's compressed again, quality can be slightly lower than the original, and the frame rate is capped at 30. The start and end can be off by a few frames. Choose Original size to keep the most detail.

Why is it saved as WebM instead of MP4?

The format is whatever this browser's recorder supports, and MP4 is used first when available. Some devices and apps may not play WebM files or show their length.

Which videos can I trim?

Any video this browser can play. You can trim up to 5 minutes at a time. If a file won't open, try another browser or an MP4 (H.264) file.

Can I switch tabs while it trims?

No. When the tab is hidden the browser may slow or pause playback and spoil the result, so trimming stops if you leave. Keep this tab in view until it finishes.
