Examples
Class group work
28 students into 7 teams gives 4 students per team, assigned completely at random.
Five-a-side football
13 players with team size 5 creates 3 teams: two teams of 4 and one of 5 — as balanced as 13 allows.
FAQ
How are the teams balanced?
Names are shuffled with cryptographic randomness and dealt round-robin, so team sizes never differ by more than one member.
What if the names don’t divide evenly?
The remainder is spread across the first teams. 7 people in 3 teams gives 3-2-2 — no team is ever two members larger than another.
Can the same person appear twice?
Each line is used exactly once. If a name is listed twice, it will appear in the result twice — remove duplicate lines first if that is not intended.
Are the names I enter uploaded anywhere?
No. The list is processed only in your browser and is never sent to our servers or analytics.
