How to use
- Drop in a photo: facing forward, plain bright background, taken within the last six months.
- Pick the size (passport 413×531 px, 3.5×4.5 cm, 3×4 cm, or custom), then drag and zoom inside the frame. Crown to chin should fill 71–80% of the height.
- Save. You get a JPG or PNG at the exact pixel size with the dpi written in. For the passport, check it is under 500 KB.

Online passport application photo
The ministry’s online application accepts 395–431 by 507–550 pixels and recommends 413×531. Choose the passport preset and that is the size you get; the card shows the file size. Over 500 KB, switch to JPG.
Taken at home, no studio
Shoot straight on in front of a white wall and drop it in. There is no background replacement or retouching here. If there are shadows or marks, retake the photo.
3×4 cm for a résumé or licence
3×4 cm is 354×472 pixels at 300 dpi. Online forms are usually fine with that; for printing, raise the dpi to 600.
Studio file, different size needed
A 3.5×4.5 file from the studio, and the form wants 3×4. The ratio differs, so a little is cut top and bottom. Watch the frame and keep the head clear of the edge.

Is the photo uploaded?
No. Cropping and saving happen inside the browser. A face photo never leaves this device.
What exactly is the Korean passport photo spec?
As on the ministry page (checked 2026-09-15): 3.5×4.5 cm; online applications recommend 413×531 pixels (395–431 wide, 507–550 tall), JPG or PNG under 500 KB, 300 dpi recommended; plain white background without a border; crown to chin 3.2–3.6 cm; taken within six months. It can change, so check the ministry page before applying.
Will a photo made here be accepted?
Unknown. This only fixes the size and resolution. Background, expression, lighting and head size are judged by a person, and even the ministry’s online check is reference-only and can differ from the actual review.
Does it make the background white?
No. It crops and resizes, nothing else. Use a white wall or backdrop when you take the photo.
How do I get the head length right?
The passport rule is 3.2–3.6 cm from the crown (hair excluded) to the chin, which is 71–80% of the photo height. Zoom and move the photo until the face takes up about that much of the frame. Nothing is measured automatically.
What is dpi and do I need it?
How many pixels go into one inch when printing. A 413×531 file marked 300 dpi prints at 3.5×4.5 cm. For screens and online forms only the pixel size matters.
JPG or PNG?
JPG wherever both are accepted. The same photo as PNG is three to five times larger and easily breaks a 500 KB limit.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. Drag with a finger to move, use the slider to zoom. iPhone HEIC photos can be dropped in directly.
