GIF Maker

Join several pictures into one animated GIF.

A GIF can use at most 256 colors per frame, so photos may look flatter, and the file grows quickly with more or larger frames.

Choose pictures and the frame list will appear here.

Join several pictures in order into an animated GIF. You can give each frame its own time, loop it forever or play it once, or have it play backwards at the end (ping-pong).

    How to use

    1. Choose at least 2 pictures.
    2. Set the order by dragging or with the buttons, then pick the frame time, loop and size.
    3. Press Make GIF and download.

    Examples

    Four pictures at 500 ms

    Four pictures at 500 ms each make a 2-second loop. With ping-pong on it plays 1, 2, 3, 4, 3, 2: six frames and a 3-second loop.

    FAQ

Are my pictures uploaded to a server?

No. Pictures are read only in this browser and the GIF is made on your device. Nothing is saved or sent.

How many pictures and how large a GIF can I make?

Up to 100 frames, with a longest side of 16 to 1000px. If width × height × frames goes over 40 million it can't be made, so the larger the GIF, the fewer frames you can use.

What if my pictures have different sizes or ratios?

You pick the GIF shape first (same as the first picture, 1:1, 4:3, 16:9 or 9:16) and every picture is fitted into it. Show whole picture fills the leftover space with the margin color; Fill and crop cuts off whatever overflows.

The file is too big, or the colors look rough.

A GIF uses at most 256 colors per frame, so photos can look flatter. To shrink the file, reduce the longest side, the number of frames or the colors (128 or 64). Halving the longest side usually makes the file much smaller.

Can I make a GIF from a video?

Yes. Use the video to GIF tool to turn a part of a video into a GIF. Use this tool when you already have pictures to string together.

Can each frame have its own time?

Yes. Set the overall frame time, then type a different time (ms) on just the frames you want to change. Times run from 20 to 10000 ms, and since GIF counts in hundredths of a second there can be a very slight rounding difference.
